the story behind the art: I was listening to a book or podcast while getting ready for bed when the author said, "Look at your life and that will tell you what your philosophy is." I felt inspired and pulled out my iPad. What I created is not what you see here. After a few days, I wasn't satisfied with what I felt was a rudimentary abstract painting. Several more weeks past, and I was listening to The Mastery of Love by Don Miguel Ruiz and a song I used to be obsessed with popped into my head. I asked Google to play "Yo No Sé Mañana" by Luis Enrique and proceeded to give a musical performance complete with a dance number to my bedroom furniture. I played the song on loop and painted over the art piece I had created a few weeks ago. I included a few of the poetic lyrics from the song into the painting:
Esta vida es igual que a un libro.
Cada página es un día vivido.
Translation: This life is the same as a book. Every page is a day lived.
